Sonic.EXE: The Disaster (often shortened to The Disaster, abbreviated as TD) is a series of fan-games created by the Spanish developer OutLaikRBLX on the game development and gaming platform Roblox. Based on the creepypasta Sonic.exe, the series features media from said creepypasta and the video game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, with music from many different games. Primary and spin-off Sonic.EXE: The Disaster games (with the only exception being Sonic.EXE RP) are survival games all developed by OutLaikRBLX. The series has become popular amongst Roblox users and has received generally positive reception.
History[]
2020: Prototype and first game[]
Sonic.exe sandbox was released in 2020, which was a public prototype of Sonic.EXE: The Disaster made for testing items that would later be featured in the full game.
Development on the first version of Sonic.EXE: The Disaster then started. When released, OutLaik experienced problems with Roblox moderation and was forced to remove a majority of the game's content. Sonic.EXE: The Disaster was nearly cancelled due to this and Sonic.exe TD memorial was born as a funeral to the game. Sonic.EXE RP was made as a replacement to the game. However, the moderator later apologized to OutLaik and he could continue creating the game.
2020–21: Remakes[]
During in 2020, the release of Sonic.EXE The Disaster (2020), Outlaik began working on the content, the game was still an alpha and he had to continue working on the ideas and content that he had eliminated in his previous game, he had started first to add abilities like the indicator for Sonic.EXE, and limiting the jump, those were the first ideas before continuing to advance and adding more things like Abilities, Characters (Shadow and Rouge) and much more, then I started adding maps, the last map being Hide and Seek act 2, the game had a last update in December, the Map ... was planned to be released but the reason why it was not actually released is unknown, since Outlaik was experiencing many bugs and vulnerabilities in its game and in the code, so Outlaik decided to create a poll to the community if they should create a Remake of the game to solve errors such as bugs, lag, vulnerabilities and among others that would affect the future, then the fan community agreed to create a Remake, Therefore, Outlaik would no longer work on Sonic.EXE The Disaster (2020) from that moment on, leaving the game abandoned.
Before the year ended, Outlaik, as a surprise gift, launched Sonic.EXE Survival as a game that could be enjoyed while waiting for the Remake.
For most of 2021, everything was silent, it was not really known how much Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake would be released, all the information and hype from fans was on Outlaik's YouTube channel, Outlaik began the Development of Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake, with the Rounds system beta video and ending with Team game over test, as the last video before its release, which came out on October 8, 2021.
The game was updated, improving the gameplay and game design a little, but at Outlaik, he couldn't add all the content he had planned in the game, so he decided to create Sonic.EXE The Disaster (EXPERIMENTAL MODE) To test all the new updates preventing it from affecting the main game, so outlaik would be more aware of that game about the next big update that Sonic.EXE The Disaster remake would have until the game suddenly stopped updating, being the last update of Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake, The V0.27.2 Leaving Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake, Abandoned once again another abandoned project, but in reality Outlaik was working on the Remake, As mentioned before I created the Experimental Mode, to test a great update that Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake would have, but that started from 2022.
2021–22: Extermination and EXPERIMENTAL MODE era[]
During 2022, Outlaik was very aware of Sonic.EXE (Experimental Mode) every day it released an update and depended too much on comments and feedback from users, Outlaik worked too much until at some point Outlaik got tired of working on it (EXPERIMENTAL MODE) who decided to take some time and leave the project on hiatus, he had already worked too much and was too burned out to continue updating it, so the last update of (EXPERIMENTAL MODE) was until V0.8.55 BETA TEST.
From that moment on there would be no more updates or mentions of Sonic.EXE The Disaster (EXPERIMENTAL MODE) and I would move it to Sonic.EXE The Disaster Remake that great update that I had planned to release.
Until suddenly on March 13, 2022, I would create Sonic.EXE Extermination, a game to recreate Sonic.EXE Sandbox for the second time. This game was intended to be simple, it was only intended to be a reboot and remake of the Sandbox, its legendary first game, at first it was only about having characters like Tails, Knuckles and Amy, Since those were the first characters added to the game in the first sandbox versions. Apparently the game had a lot of appreciation and approval that Outlaik was motivated to create more content by adding more characters and content, But despite everything the game was only intended to be simple and not another larger project, So Outlaik decided to finish Sonic.EXE Extermination on May 14, 2022, with V 0.6 as the last Extermination update, Finally leaving the sandbox legacy recreated once again.
After getting enough rest, Outlaik was motivated to continue developing Sonic.EXE The Disaster, but before, he had a lot of ideas and content to reuse in the game but he had to create a test game to release all the content, so in October 2022, Sonic.EXE The Disaster (EXPERIMENTAL MODE) Had returned once again, but this time better than ever!, It started from the beginning to add the first contents started developing from version 0.0.1 to version 0.593 since that was the last update of 2023.
2023–24: Experimental to main game[]

Throughout 2023, OutLaik focused on the EXPERIMENTAL MODE, which would later on become its own game after V 0.7 no longer being the testing version of Sonic.exe: The Disaster Remake. The game would receive multiple updates before finally reaching V1.0, which would completely overhaul the entire game. After only a few subversions, development on V1.1 would be started and would be released in October 2023, putting it apart of a Halloween update.
2024: 1.2 and onward[]
Development on 1.2 started sometime after V1.122, while also working on Sonic Dream Universe (2023). New character models were designed which were later revealed to be coming to TD. A prototype for the update was released on April 5, 2024.

Characters[]
Main article: Characters
The characters that appear in Sonic.EXE: The Disaster games are all characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series who have made appearances as victims throughout Sonic.exe fangames. The prototype and first game originally only included Tails and Knuckles from Round 1, and the girls from Round 2. By Sonic.EXE: The Disaster (2020), Eggman had made his first appearance alongside the Round 3 characters Shadow and Rouge. Other characters such as Metal Sonic and Tails Doll aren't going to be featured in main games and would only appear in Sonic.EXE RP. Developer-exclusive characters like Sonic or Tikal only made one appearance.
Character models would continuously be remodeled or update throughout different games or updates.
In Sonic.EXE: The Disaster (2022), Silver was going to be a new character added to the game (likely because he appeared in Round 4). However, the character was later scrapped.
